Communications
Based in the Communications Department, my role covers all aspects of
internal and external communciations.
Ranging from the production of brochures, videos, advertisements and handling
press relations to preparing the company newsletter and internal
releases. In addition to providing support for many on-going issues
I have been able ot take ownership of many key new projects. These projects
have covered many digital and internet/intranet technologies.
The list below provides a summary of the specific areas I have been involved with
- Supervised the production of www.heckettmultiserv.com
- Responsible for maintainance and updates of company web site
- Design, develop and implement digital image archive
- Collect, analyse and present statistics regarding global activities
- Establish and collate marketing intelligence information on competitors and customers
- Provide support for presentations, proposals, exhibitions and trade press events
- Assist in production of brochures, videos, advertisements, newsletters and internally
produced material
- Design templates for family of internal releases and re-design external news release
- Review and propose improvements for the storage of promotional material including;
photographs, videos, slides and printed material
Industrial Placements
During my degree course at Brunel University I completed two
Industrial Placements. The details of these are outlined below

London
February 1996 to August 1996
Economics
This was my second Industrial Placement. I worked with the Commission's staff of Economists
on a variety of references. The specific areas I was involved with include the following;
- Collect, analyse and present information on industries and specific areas to tight deadlines
- Attend meetings with members of Commission and Staff. Also formal hearings with relevant
external parties&
- Acquire high level of commercial awareness and knowledge of specific industries
- Establish system for analysing and presenting results of extensive questionnaires
- Organise and supervise work of two new students to ensure a smooth transition
Preston
September 1994 to January 1995
Audit and Accountancy
As my first Industrial Placement, my time with KPMG proved very challenging but, at the
same time rewarding. I was given a great deal of autonomy and responsibility.
- Collect information necessary to complete audit and test operation of business systems
- Liaise with staff at all levels within numerous firms
- Work to strict deadlines
- Seconded to a client firm, who had acquired a local football club.
Required to independently review and document the club's business activities and
produce written report. Prepared information for a budget of the club's next financial year
- Returned to KPMG for two additional placements during Easter and Summer 1995
